New promenade and
beaches

The Cart Road has been extended to the Cobb to form a new wide seafront promenade which has proved very popular with both residents and visitors. The newly replenished beach is only slightly below the level of the Cart Road itself which creates an impression of space and improved daccessibility.

There is a continental feel now to strolling along the new seafront which is more noticeable, as you draw nearer to the Cobb, with many establishments offering al fresco areas overlookig the beach and tempting the weary visitor to sit and enjoy the view whilst sampling the refreshments.

Walking from Cobb Gate towards the Cobb either on Marine Parade or the Cart Road you cannot fail to notice the much bigger shingle beach retained between two new jetties. The beach huts located on the Cart Road from April to September are now slightly westward of their previous position to gain the benefit of the wider seafront. Council owned huts are available for daily or weekly hire, tel 01297 445175.

Front Beach, as the main sandy beach popular with families for bathing, is also bigger than before and sheltered between large rocks and a new jetty.

Town Council Car Parks Conveniently located for both beach and town. Holiday parking made easy! Weekly tickets available direct from car park machines. Locations marked on town map. Park and Ride services also operate from both the East and West of the town during the season.
